Do you have good sea legs, a steady hand and an eagle eye? Well, let WWF and the University of Pretoria Whale Unit induct you as a marine biologist for a day. Tagging marine mammals is a difficult procedure and a skill that requires a high level of finesse from scientists. When a whale is at the surface, it usually comes up for a few breaths before diving down again. So, there are only a few opportunities when tagging is possible. Be a part of the ocean conservation team, and document and witness how our whales are tagged and sampled. Then head back to the lab to see how this research helps in the fight for survival of the southern right whale.
Thereafter enjoy a relaxing dinner and luxury accommodation overlooking the whales in the picturesque town of Hermanus.
This adventure includes accommodation, meals and the tagging experience.
