Celebrating Women's Month

On the 9th of August 1956, 20 000 women marched to the Union Buildings in protest against the extension of Pass Laws to women.

During Women's Month, we have the opportunity to assess the progress we've made in reshaping society and creating a conducive environment that enables women to take control of their lives.

This month the spotlight is on the empowered female entrepreneurs who supply WWF South Africa with a range of sustainable products.

KATE WILSON OF MULBERRY MONGOOSE

Growing up in London, Kate never dreamed of one day moving out to the Zambian bush. Now it’s her home and that is where Mulberry Mongoose was born. She works with a group of creative and courageous ladies who believe in bringing women together, near and far, to help each other achieve the seemingly impossible. Together they share stories, ideas, and aspirations as they make all of their jewellery by hand. And together they all reinvest in their community. In an area where unemployment is high, this income lets them play an active role in supporting their families and preserving this unique place that inspires their work.
